The honest pitch
You bake the cake; a courier drives it. With Tavvi-arranged delivery, the customer pays the courier's fee at checkout, a driver from a local courier network picks the order up at your door, and the customer watches it arrive on a live map. You never quote prices, never text a driver, never leave the kitchen.
There's also a self-delivery mode where you do the driving, it exists, it works, and for a solo operator it's usually a trap. Your time is production time. This guide covers the arranged path.
Who pays what, no surprises
- The customer pays the delivery fee, calculated live at their checkout based on the real distance. Not you.
- You keep your full sale. Tavvi's normal online cut applies to the items, exactly as it would on a pickup order, delivery adds nothing on your side.
- Far-away customers see delivery unavailable rather than a silly fee: deliveries run within a local radius of your store.
Turn it on
Open your Online Register → Online Store Settings.
Turn on Delivery and pick the Tavvi-arranged option.
Double-check your store address in Store Information. The courier drives to what's written there, an old address means your food tours the wrong neighborhood.
When an order comes in
The order lands at your register like any online order, marked as a delivery.
Prep it, pack it for travel. Sealed lids, bags that close. Whatever you'd want arriving at your own door.
When it's genuinely ready, tap the request-courier action on the order. Couriers are matched in minutes, request when the order is packed, not when you start cooking.
Hand the order to the courier when they arrive. Check the name on their screen matches the order.
Done. The customer follows the live map; delivery status updates on the order for both of you.
If something's off
- No courier accepts. It happens on the edge of coverage or at odd hours. The order stays yours to fulfill, call the customer and swap to pickup or refund. Don't leave it in limbo.
- The courier's late and food is sitting. Request the courier when packing is done, not before. If it keeps happening at your busiest hour, prep for travel-hardiness (things that hold heat) or lengthen your prep time.
- Customer says it arrived rough. Packaging is your half of the handshake, sealed, upright, bagged. Refund what deserves refunding ("Refunds, the right way") and adjust packaging before blaming the driver.
- Delivery isn't showing for a customer. They're outside the delivery radius, or your store is closed. Both are working as intended.
